Annual General Meeting 2019
1 October 2019
NHS Swale CCG held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday 26 September 2019 at Hempstead House, Sittingbourne.
Local GPs, Governing Body, staff and wider colleagues reflected on the achievements of the past financial year and considered the opportunities that expected changes to health services commissioning across Kent and Medway could bring in the coming year.
Company Secretary Mike Gilbert said GPs would rightly play a hugely significant role in the new Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and the emerging Integrated Care Partnerships (ICPs).
Chair Dr Fiona Armstrong said in the last financial year the CCG’s budget was £165.9million which was challenging in light of system changes and population growth, and the CCG ended the year in a ‘break-even’ position, after taking account of contingency funding in line with NHS England guidance.
A focus for the year was local care, with the introduction of multidisciplinary teams, the home visiting service, community navigation teams and extended access to primary care.
Other highlights included earning national recognition for antibiotic prescribing; improved outcomes for people with psychological problems; support for LGBTQ+ young people through the BeYou project and earning employer recognition for the CCG’s support for armed forces personnel.
