Patient transport

In December 2015, the CCG identified that transport may be a barrier to enabling patients to feel able to choose the best hospital for them in Kent.

It is important that patients are aware that there is patient choice over which hospital they can receive services from. This can help those who depend on public or voluntary transport in choosing a service that is accessible or as a personal choice.

Therefore, the Swale Patient Liaison Group (PLG) established a task and finish sub-committee in order to explore barriers and potential solutions.

Their findings are available in the ‘Transport to Hospitals in Kent from the Swale CCG Area’ report, which outlines recommendations to the CCG and includes details on the quickest way to get to seven hospital sites, along with times and costs for travelling by bus, train, volunteer scheme, Red Cross or by your own car.  Up-to-date information about the patient transport service and eligibility criteria is also included.
